New CD Recording of Whitlock’s Organ Music
A new CD featuring Roderick Elms has been released by Herald AV Publications.

The album consists of tracks recorded over two sessions, 24 years apart! Most of it was recorded in July 1985 on the now-defunct Rugby School Chapel organ, built by Elliot in 1823, and replaced after the original fell into disrepair in the 1990s. The rest of the album was recorded on the Brentwood Cathedral organ in November 2009.

The CD features Sortie, (Seven Sketches on Verses from the Psalms), as well as the complete Six Hymn Preludes, interspersed with the Three Reflections, and a new recording of Fantasie Choral No 2. These are fine, idiomatic performances on sympathetic instruments, and make a welcome addition to the discography of Whitlock’s music.
