Percy Whitlock attends the Royal Wedding
Percy Whitlock appears at the royal wedding, albeit not literally but through his music.

The Canzona (a movement from Percy's organ sonata) was performed by the abbey's assistant organist Robert Quinney. The piece, an eloquent song-without-words was composed in the finest English lyrical tradition and which brought to a conclusion a collection of ostensibly indigenous musical inspirations as below:

Fantasia in G (Piece d'orgue a 5) BWV 572 - J S Bach (1685-1750)

Veni Creator Spiritus - Peter Maxwell Davies (b 1934)

Prelude on St Columba Op 101 no 6 - C V Stanford (1852-1924)

Sonata for Organ Op 28 - Edward Elgar (1857-1934)
i. Allegro maestoso

ii. Allegretto

Canzona, from Organ Sonata in C minor - Percy Whitlock (1903-46)
